Ping Plotter general information:

This is a program designed to find where problems exist with your internet connection.  If you detect problems with AnySpeed, we suggest you run this program to see where the problems are coming from. These are some of the things you can determine:

• Is the problem on your ISP's end?  If so, you'll see long response times at the beginning of the trace.
• Is the problem somewhere out on the internet?  If so, you'll see long response times in the middle of the trace.
• Is the problem on the clearing firm's end? If so, you'll see long response times at the end of the trace.

Description:

In this trace, your connection goes thru 15 "hops" or connections to get to SLK. This is typical and less with AT&T.  The first few lines are connections to/from/near your ISP.  Problems here are his problem...Bitch!  The middle lines are connections somewhere in the internet. Problems here are unfixable... Cry! The last few lines are connections to/from/near SLK.  Problems here are SLK's problems... let us know!

Downloading:

Click here to download PingPlotter (this will be saved on your system as PingPlotInstall.exe) Be sure to save it into your C:\Bright directory.

Installation:

Double-Click on the PingPlotterSetup.exe file that you saved and it will install itself on your system and on your "Start" button under "Programs".

Usage:

You really only need to use this if you find that there is something wrong with your internet connection:

• Start the program
• In the address field, enter the address that you want to check on. To check on your SLK connection, in RediPlus, go to the Menu... About and you'll see the TCP/IP address in the about box. Put this number in the address field.
• Click on trace to start the trace. You'll see if there are any unusually high readings and that's where you have a problem.
