We consider remote trading to be whenever a Bright Trader trades outside of a Bright office more than they trade inside a Bright office. This can be in your home, in your private office, on the beach with your wireless notebook, the possibilities are endless.
These are some of the reasons that people choose to trade remotely:
- Location - Not everyone is near a Bright office. Trading remotely allows an individual to trade from a location that is accessible to him or herself.
- Costs - The cost of trading at home can be less. Comparable desk fees in the office are $200/mo more than as a remote. Also, if you are a lower volume trader, you only have to trade 200K shares in a month to get the desk fee rebated. In addition, you don't have the added expense of commuting costs, dry cleaning, lunches out, etc. Your primary added expense is your internet connection.
- Privacy - Many traders have successful strategies that they've worked hard on and would rather not share them with anyone else. As a remote trader, it is easier to keep your strategies from being discovered.
- Peace & Quiet - Some traders like a robust office environment with CNBC, the squawk box, and the input of other traders. Other traders work better in a quiet environment without distractions. Remote traders determine the type of environment that they work in.
- Flexibility - A number of remote traders are involved in other businesses and trade from those offices. Without the availability of remote trading, they would either have to give up their other business or not be able to trade.
- Other - Remote traders have been able to trade for the day when in-office traders have been kept out of the office due to weather. Remote traders have been able to get to doctor's appointments, attend their children's events, take care of loved ones. None of this would have not been possible if they had to contend with a commute to the office.
